You+Dallas

You+Dallas is an exciting intersection where social networking meets online video. The result? A simple yet powerful way to share stories, and hopefully make living in Big D a little easier and a whole lot more interesting.

You+Media, the company behind You+Dallas, is a totally two-way media enterprise. Through its properties you can create your own online TV show; interact with on-air radio personalities; debate the latest City Council moves; review a great new restaurant; or even create your own community of pet lovers, car enthusiasts, sports maniacs, or music fans. They first released their web platform for the Dallas community and plan to do so in many others hopefully in the near future.
AETN - History Channel
MyHistory was created to provide a first-person look at history, more intimate than what usually makes it to the air, allowing also the users to upload their own 3-5 minute productions and providing tools to give them a professional look. It was conceived with the idea of embedding this application in any web page, so the administrative backend provides a javascript code that allows you to do exactly that.

The application uses Brightcove, an online video platform, that provides the media player and storing of videos. We've participated in all aspects of development, and also in the make of a Ruby module to interact with the Brightcove API and the FTP provisioning it provides, for which we also had to manage the transcoding of videos to meet their standards.

Currently two different instances are live, one for Germany and the other for Latin America, with styles and special requested features customized for each country.
The International Online
The International is an independent company that produces a publication that raises awareness about important world issues and brings the information to a broad audience while maintaining high journalistic standards.

Our mission was to make a complete graphics redesign of their existing application, along with several new features such as an automatically generated pdf magazine each month, image editing for articles and magazine, job board, full text search engine, weather and live stocks widgets, and finally all the payment logic and credit card processing for their print and web subscriptions plan.

The payment is tied to the Beanstream gateway from Candada, which required us to extend the Active Merchant gem in order to add recurring billing capabilities for that particular gateway.
V Street Media - Indieoma
Indieoma's goal is to take an independent look at life through the prism of art and ideas, featuring and editorial playlist of videos and music.

Indieoma offers a fully enabled AJAX experience through all the site navigation. This means that clicking a link won’t interrupt the video or audio stream. Allowing the user to navigate and personalize his online media experience, exploring, discovering, sharing his comments with the community, uploading his own videos and music, and easily customize what he wants to watch and listen.

We were part of the team in charge of the full administration of the site, development, deployment and performance tuning.
MyWebPost
MyWebpost fetches posts from hundreds of rss feeds, categorizing the information and making it available while you surf through IE and Firefox plug-ins. With MyWebpost you don’t have to visit every interesting site to see if they have something related to the topic you are reading. MyWebpost brings what you like to you.

When we took this project, it was almost 3 years old and couldn't go live after several failures and different teams. We helped them go live.

Supports in it's critical functionality 60,000 requests per second. That functionality involves the use of a minimal web server (micro httpd) with a C module. Runs in a server farm with 9 servers. 2 mysqls (with replication), 1 critical operations (c module), 4 with the rails app (nginx in one of them and thin), 1 mail service, 1 for backup purposes and repositories.

Santiago Pastorino

Santiago is a Rails Core Team Member, devoted Open Source developer and Co-Founder of WyeWorks. He's a well rounded Software Engineer, perfectionist and passionate about creating extremely high quality products using the very best practices. As a side effect of getting his Computer Science degree, he is now proudly addicted to Coca-Cola and chocolate.
José Ignacio Costa

José is a Software Engineer, Rails Core Contributor and Co-Founder of WyeWorks. As an excellent mix of a best practices activist and a pragmatic programmer, he became a natural problem solver and team leader. Passionate about agile development, Ruby on Rails, his good-enough-for-amateur basketball skills and his frustrated musician career.
Sebastián Martínez

Sebastián is an experienced web developer and Rails Core Contributor in the constant search of pragmatic excellence using lean approaches. He has a natural instinct when finding the root cause of problems. He is a strong believer in open source, managing to contribute to some projects in his spare time. He may have an unhealthy obsession with coffee, but nothing to worry about in the predictable future.
Leonardo Capillera

Leonardo is a senior Web developer with a very strong background in scaling and performance optimization that he exercised through his years working for the government telecommunications company. When he's not working on refactoring and speeding up some transaction, he brings rivals to their knees in the soccer amateur league.
Gonzalo Rodríguez

Gonzalo is a web developer obsessed with clean code. He always finds something to improve, producing high quality software as a result. Eager to get to know the internals of every project he participates in, he also brings the fresh air needed to get things done. Ronit is our best genepool experiment to combine this brainy girl with Yehuda Katz's coding skills. Girl power has finally hit WyeWorks with her passion for User Interaction design and extreme dedication. She's now ready to shine with Rails, and leave her obscure Silverlight past behind.
Fabián Rodríguez

Fabián is a calm german educated web developer starting to make his way through open source which he loved for longer than he can remember. He produces amazing stuff very early in the mornings, under caffeine effects of course. He loves swimming, movies, rooting for his soccer team and playing around with his guitar. Oh! and he hates kitties.
Marcelo Domínguez

Marcelo is a hyperactive web developer who manages to calm his anxiety with his detail oriented coding skills and by digging deep into the core of every problem he faces.
